House Teams

At Abbey Primary School we have four house teams.

Fire House Logo   Red (Fire)  Air House Logo   Yellow (Air)

Earth House Logo   Green (Earth)      Water House Logo    Blue (Water)

When children start we us, they will be sorted into a house team in which they will remain for their entire school journey. Where possible, siblings are placed in the same house team.

House Captains

At Abbey Primary, Year 6 House Captains are democratically elected each year. They present a speech to the year 5 cohort who then vote for the candidate they would like to represent them.

Here are our 2026-2027 house captains:

House Points

Children will have the opportunity to ear house points for their team by showing that they are following our Abbey values of Ready, Respectful and Safe. Each week in the school newsletter, a running total of the house points for each team will be shared.

House Week

At the start of each academic year, children will have the opportunity to take part in House Week. The aims of house week are:

  • To raise the profile of house teams.

  • To create a sense of belonging to their house team.

  • To promote inter-house team competition.

  • To link behaviour points on class charts to house teams to promote positive behaviour choices.

In 2025-2026, the House Theme was ‘Together We Can’.

In 2026-2027, we are continuing to build on the theme of togetherness and that together we can achieve more with the theme, ‘Together We Grow’.

Interhouse Competitions

Across the year, children will have the opportunity to participate in a range of interhouse competitions such as:

  • House Week

  • Abbey Spelling Bee

  • Sports Day

  • Abbey’s Got Talent
