The boys showed a close team spirit and parents and staff who watched were incredibly proud of them.
Science Week Children had a great time during Science Week, taking part in a variety of scientific activities which made science fun! The Early Years experimented with magnets, iinvestigating which objects the magnet would pick up. Year 1 predicted which objects would float or sink and then tried it out. Year 2 investigated what happens to water when it freezes and mixed vinegar and washing powder and were amazed at the result - an awful smelling foamy mixture! Year 3 made rockets by using a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and vinegar as well as learning about air resistance and streamlining. Year 4 enjoyed mixing water, food colouring and cornflour. They had fun letting the mixture flow through their fingers and squeezed it to make a solid. Year 5 investigated reactions by making slime, using colouring. The children had great fun watching the slime turn from a solid to a liquid and back again. Year 6 made lava lamps using oil and coloured water. They also used clay to make to make a volcano and put bicarbonate of soda in to watch it explode with vinegar. The children also investigated densities by making mixture of honey, water and oil and dropping in grape, penny and cork.

The children loved having lunch by the sea playing with their friends. The children looked for different features of the seaside and took a lovely stroll to the pier and watched fishermen in action.
Year 5 Trip Year 5 had a wonderful time at the National Maritime Museum on 2nd October. They took part in an interactive workshop about the earth, sun and moon. The Reception and Year 1 concert, 'Ralph the Reindeer' was wonderful. The children looked fantastic in their costumes and sang, danced, acted, and narrated beautifully. The Year 2 and Year 3 concert was an amazing spectacle which had the audience mesmerised from the start to finish. The children showed how much they enjoyed performing and demonstrated such great confidence. Year 4 and 5 performed 'Baboushka' with fantastic singing, dancing and acting. It was a pleasure to watch the children really enjoying performing to the audience.

Teams were divided up into 5 continents and 2 countries. They had to work together to communicate and produce food by buying and selling, and bartering and trading resources with the other teams. It has as enjoyable way of learning about where the world's food comes from and how much food the county or continent has to feed their own people at the end of the day. Great fun was had by all as well as great life skills.
E - Safety Meeting We feel it is vitally important to raise the profile of E-Safety as it is becoming one of the main ways of children being put at risk whether through mobile phones or over the internet. The children have been learning to be 'SMART': S-SAFE M-MEETING A-ACCEPTING R-RELIABLE T-TELL
Our KS1 children used the 'thinkyouknow' website and watched a cartoon clip. They then made 'internet protector' badges. KS2 children discussed internet safety in more detail, looking at some internet 'nasties'- internet addiction, strangers online, chain emails, identity theft, not for kids, illegal downloading, attachments and cyber bullying.
Mark Dinsdale from Sutton Education Authority led an excellent parents' meeting about internet safety last week. Parents found it very informative so we will plan a further meeting for the summer term.

They developed observation and manoeuvrability skills, learnt the importance of cycle maintenance and were introduced to the Highway Code for Young Road Users. They spent every morning or afternoon learning these new skills both in the classroom and out on the road, they then had to take both a written test and a test on the road. Well done to you for passing!!!
